A Delpech was charged with a breach of Hong Kong Rule of Racing 99(2) and (3) in that as the rider of SPARE A DIME in the stated race, he did not take all reasonable and permissible measures throughout that race to ensure SPARE A DIME was given a full opportunity to win or to obtain the best possible placing in the field.
Jockey Delpech pleaded not guilty to the charge, however, after the Stewards had deliberated on the matter and had taken full account of all the evidence and submissions put to them, they did decide the charge against Jockey Delpech could be sustained and accordingly found him guilty as charged. He was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Thursday 15 November 2007 on which day he may resume race riding (11 Hong Kong racedays). The suspension is to commence with immediate effect. The Stewards ordered that the suspension incurred by Jockey Delpech for careless riding at the Sha Tin racemeeting on 26 September 2007 be served concurrently with this suspension.
Permission has been granted for Club Jockey Glen Boss to be absent from Hong Kong so as to ride MANDELA, trained by Richard Yuill, in the Kelt Capital Stakes (Group 1) scheduled to be conducted at Hastings Racecourse in New Zealand on Saturday, 6 October 2007.
Jockey Boss has advised that he intends to depart Hong Kong on Friday, 5 October 2007 and will return on Sunday, 7 October 2007 in order to fulfil race riding engagements at the Sha Tin race meeting scheduled to be conducted later that day. As such, he will not miss a Hong Kong race meeting.

Cheng steals the show with 4th National Day Cup triumph
|
Local jockey Howard Cheng Yue-tin outshone stellar performances by Packing Winner and Sacred Kingdom, two of Hong Kong's next generation of stars, as he continued his virtual mortgage on the National Day Cup (Gr.3-1400m) by driving 32/1 chance Tiber home for a shock victory.
Cheng was picking up his fourth win in five seasons of the prestigious October 1st showpiece commemorating the founding of the People's Republic Of China. Those who have followed race trends won't be complaining, however ~ this |

John Moore, the winning trainer, admitted to being taken aback at the success and remarked: "I guess it just shows what can happen when you have a fresh horse off a light weight. I really didn't expect this because his work hadn't been that great, but it was a terrific ride by Howard and he gets all the credit." |
|
Tiber's win, the 3rd of the day for Cheng, was by a neck from the fast-finishing favourite Pocket Money with The Duke, reliable as ever, with third-highest weights.
Just over half an hour earlier, Sacred Kingdom made it six wins from seven career starts to reaffirm his billing as one of Hong Kong's next big international hopes with a commanding success in the Sha Tin Sprint Trophy (Gr.3-1000m).
Trained by Ricky Yiu Poon-fai, Sacred Kingdom was backed into a prohibitive odds-on quote of 1/2 favourite, but his supporters never endured a moment's anxiety as he tanked his way to the lead at halfway and pulled clear under hand riding from Gerald Mosse for a very easy length-and-a-half triumph.

"Gerald handled him very well. He didn't fight with him and just let him stride to the front. He just has so much natural speed, this horse; he'll go over more ground than just 1000m and 1200m when he's ready, but for now we'll concentrate on sprints," Yiu said.
"His next target is the [Cathay Pacific International] Sprint Trial in November and then the Cathay Pacific Hong Kong Sprint in December."
The day's other highlight was the romp by odds-on favourite Packing Winner in course-record time.
Packing Winner, trained by Peter Ho, won the 1800m Beijing Handicap by three-and-three-quarter lengths in a blistering 1 min 46.2 sec. The win also provided champion jockey Douglas Whyte with his fourth successive victory of the meeting.
Packing Winner, a five-year-old son of Zabeel, is now likely to target the Cathay Pacific International Cup Trial (Gr.2-2000m) next month en route to a tilt at the HK$20million Cathay Pacific Hong Kong Cup on December 9.
