Apprentice K L Chui & the Ferraris Stable

On Sunday 16 September 2007, the Stewards received advice from Mr D E Ferraris that he no longer wished to have Apprentice K L Chui allocated to his stable. The Stewards this afternoon interviewed Apprentice Chui, who was represented by Mr J Graham, Manager, Racing Development Board, Mr Ferraris and Mr L K Tai, assistant trainer to Mr Ferraris. Also interviewed was Miss A Chan, Headmistress, Apprentice Jockeys' School.

Mr Ferraris explained he had become increasingly disappointed with the attitude displayed by Apprentice Chui and in particular his failure to attend the stables in the afternoons as is required. Mr Tai confirmed that he had on two occasions spoken to Apprentice Chui regarding his non-attendance at the stables in the afternoons and had also expressed these concerns to Miss Chan.

Miss Chan said she had advised Apprentice Chui that he was to ensure he was present at the stables when he was not required by the Apprentice Jockeys' School to be present at other activities. Apprentice Chui pleaded guilty to having breached the Apprentice Indenture Agreement Regulations in that he had failed in his responsibilities to be present at the stables of his allocated trainer in the afternoons on several occasions towards the end of last season and again at the commencement of the current season.

Having considered all the circumstances, the Stewards believed the appropriate penalty was for Apprentice Chui's licence to ride in races be suspended for a period to expire on Thursday 27 September 2007 on which day he may resume race riding (3 Hong Kong racedays). This suspension is with immediate effect. As such, the Stewards permitted the following riding substitutions for the race meeting to be held at Happy Valley on Wednesday 19 September 2007:

Race 3: Apprentice K T Yeung on BEAR DOMINANCE
Race 6: Apprentice C W Wong on PERFECT TIME
Race 7: C K Tong on COUNTRY MAGIC

The Stewards confirmed that Apprentice Chui will no longer be allocated to the stable of Mr Ferraris. The re-allocation of Apprentice Chui will take place as soon as is possible.

見習騎師徐君禮

首席受薪董事薛天華發出通告如下：

受薪董事小組於九月十六日星期日接獲練馬師霍利時的通知，表示他不希望見習騎師徐君禮繼續為其馬房效力。小組今午召見了徐君禮的代表賽馬培訓發展委員會經理葛偉恆先生、霍利時先生，以及助理練馬師戴立強先生。小組並召見了見習騎師學校校長陳念慈。

霍利時解釋謂，他對見習騎師徐君禮所表現的態度愈來愈感到失望，尤其因為他未能按照規定在下午返回馬房值勤。戴立強先生確證，他曾兩度就徐君禮未能於下午返回馬房值勤一事與其交談，並向校長陳念慈表示關注此事。陳念慈表示，她已告知徐君禮，他必須確保於見習騎師學校不需要他參加其他活動時返回馬房值勤。

見習騎師徐君禮承認違反見習騎師合約的規定，因他未能履行責任，於上季末及今季初數度未有於下午返回其所屬練馬師的馬房值勤。

小組經考慮所有情況後，判罰見習騎師徐君禮即時停賽至九月二十七日星期四

( 三個香港賽馬日 ) 始可恢復策騎出賽。因此，小組批准九月十九日星期三跑馬地賽事下列宣佈出賽馬匹更換騎師：

第三場 >> 「威霸熊」改由見習騎師楊啟棠策騎
第六場 >> 「天機」改由見習騎師王志偉策騎
第七場 >> 「鄉村傳奇」改由見習騎師湯智傑策騎

受薪董事小 組 確證，見習騎師徐君禮將不會繼續為霍利時馬房效力，並會盡快重新編配予其他馬房。
