THE FRESH FACTOR #2 & HORSES FOR COURSES

Analysis of Horses Racing Fresh at Happy Valley

Opening Day at Sha Tin was, as expected to be, a challenging one for the handicappers. However it did illustrate that, as in the past, Horses which have proven to race well fresh have a strong chance of racing well again when fresh off a break.

All horses which won on Sunday's Opening Meet had previously "Won fresh" in previous races, including VICTORY MASCOT in the 4th race which paid HK$1,020.50. While the "fresh factor", as outlined in our Blog of September 6, 2011, is by no means a 100% certainty, it would be remiss not to include this item in your overall analysis and continue to track this trend in the first 2 months of this season.

Another strong form factor which you should include in your selection process is "Horses for Courses". The Happy Valley (HV) track is a much different venue than Sha Tin and not every horse or jockey handles this course equally. Horses with a strong positive history at the City Track should be given serious consideration. To help you in this process, take a look at the included chart (CLICK LINK) which shows summary information on Horses Racing Fresh along with their HV Records.

Future Blogs (link) will continue to present reports which help to analyze this variable - stay tuned!

Good Luck for the City Track's Seasonal Debut.

Bio on Earl Klein

Co-founder and Racing Editor of the Hong Kong Racing Journal since it's inception in 1995. During this period I have provided consulting services regarding Hong Kong racing to both end-users and corporate clients, such as Race Tracks, Off-track Betting Services, Bookmakers & TABs, On-line information services, etc.

For almost 10 years the HKRJ provided a Custom Service to the Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC) which focused on a pre-race analysis report for the Chief Steward (Stipe), during the tenures of John Schreck and Jamie Stier.

A number-cruncher for my 'day job' and an enthusiastic part-time programmer with a love of horseracing, the analysis of Hong Kong Racing has been a natural fit to both my skills and hobby.

I enjoy making Hong Kong Racing a more level playing field so if you've got an opinion or a suggestion, please don't hesitate to drop me a line.
