HK RACING BLOG ~ Level the Playing Field
September 1, 2011

PRE-SEASON OVERVIEW

Welcome to the pre-season edition of the 2011/12 season of the "Hong Kong Racing" Blog. My name is Earl Klein, Racing Editor of the Hong Kong Racing Journal (HKRJ) ( www.hongkongracing.com.hk ), which my partner and I started in 1995.

The HKRJ was the FIRST on-line business to provide Hong Kong Racing information and is today the premier provider of Racing Data and Services for Hong Kong Racing to Corporate Clients and Individual users around the world. In my capacity of Racing Editor and Database Manager, I have a long and wide perspective on this exciting horseracing product.

The Racing Blogs that we will be providing this season will focus on handicapping concepts which specifically deal with Hong Kong Racing. These will include analysis tips, statistics and downloads of spread-sheets to support the handicapping tools as needed/appropriate.

An example of what you will see comes in my blog after the Entries have been announced for opening day, namely a discussion that will focus on the analysis of Horses which do well (or poorly) when they are racing off of a "spell". My next racing blog (September 4th) will concentrate on Trainers who have performed well or poorly after a gap in racing. Subsequent blogs will continue to follow this condition as deemed relevant.

Other future blogs will cover various aspects of handicapping such as Trainer/Jockey trends, Betting Strategies, Odds Market creation, Class and Distance analysis, etc.. We will also be inviting Guest Bloggers to make their points and we will be answering your questions and feedback.

Before closing today, I'd like to add a short word on the HKRJ. Any serious player of Hong Kong Racing is likely requiring a robust data service, not to mention a powerful front-end application which can deliver an analysis designed for his or her specific needs. The HKRJ not only has the data that players need but has developed numerous applications, from the simple to the complex. If you'd like information or to discuss your options, just send us an e-mail and we will contact you about your requirements.

Watch our notifications on Twitter when Updated Blogs are posted and look for other pertinent news alerts.

On behalf of the HKRJ & HKRF teams, I wish you all good racing luck for the upcoming 2011/12 Season of Hong Kong Racing.

Earl

Bio on Earl Klein

Co-founder and Racing Editor of the Hong Kong Racing Journal since it's inception in 1995. During this period I have provided consulting services regarding Hong Kong racing to both end-users and corporate clients, such as Race Tracks, Off-track Betting Services, Bookmakers & TABs, On-line information services, etc.

For almost 10 years the HKRJ provided a Custom Service to the Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC) which focused on a pre-race analysis report for the Chief Steward (Stipe), during the tenures of John Schreck and Jamie Stier.

A number-cruncher for my 'day job' and an enthusiastic part-time programmer with a love of horseracing, the analysis of Hong Kong Racing has been a natural fit to both my skills and hobby.

I enjoy making Hong Kong Racing a more level playing field so if you've got an opinion or a suggestion, please don't hesitate to drop me a line.
